Another fire in District 20, another broken promise by the D1 Commissioner. Crews from Pleasant Grove, Innerarity Point, and Myrtle Grove all arrived within seconds of each other and found a working fire in a residential home. Contrary to what this same Commissioner stated in a neighborhood meeting earlier this week, the union has NO say in which companies are dispatched to a fire. When this same Commissioner then blames a past Fire Chief (who has been gone for 3+ years) for "misinformation" concerning the number of house fires in Paradise Beach, the lack of ownership is evident. When asked at the same meeting with residents of the area, another response of "we're looking into it" was all the hope the tax payers were given. Is this who the citizens want to make Public Safety decisions? Someone seeing an issue and not addressing it, especially when lives and property are at stake? Maybe discretionary funds could have been use for this station as well. Equal representation their commisioners for all Escambia County communities.

"You good?" It's more than just a question we ask each other. It's "I'm here when you're ready to talk" or "I'm always here for you, just a phone call away." PTSD is a disease that affects us all in many ways. Some can control it, some can not erase the demaons that torment our minds. Firefighter suicide has been on the rise and last year, it ran just behind cancer as the number one killer of our chosen profession. It's hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel, the glimmer of hope that has been ECFR is fading fast. Know that we will always be here for those we serve, and more importantly, we are here for each other. I am my brothers keeper.

Statistics are facts. Google "Poorest county in Florida" Madison County will be the answer. Let's look at some facts about Madison County: In 2016, Madison County ran 42 structure fires; Escambia ran 359. In 2016, Madison County ran 892 total calls; Escambia ran 18,167. Currently, Madison County starting pay: $11.35/hr Currently, Escambia County starting pay: $10.79/hr Maybe it's not the amount of money coming in, but where it's being spent that is the problem. To say "we cant afford an increase in pay" becomes an invalid argument when the poorest county pays more than the one we work in, run more fires in, and run more calls for help in. We have lost 30 personnel in 30 months to other counties and cities. There has to be a stop to losing employees due to low pay! Before a particular politican wants to argue that we are only making this argument "because we are in contract negotiations", he should be reminded that we have had that hourly pay longer than he's been a Commisioner. #WeDeserveBetter

Good morning! It's a great day to support Jonathan Owens for District 1 Commissioner! We are out this morning covering the intersection of Brent Lane and W Street, showing the "Firefighters Support" for his race .

Tomorrow morning at 0600, the burn ban will be lifted in Escambia County. With this in mind, all rules set by the Florida Forest Service must be followed. Thanks to all those who complied, allowing for fire safety of themselves, their neighborhoods, and their County!

This picture speaks volumes. To know that American citizens were willing to go to an unknown country, stay an unknown time, and give an unknown price to make sure their way of life was protected. To stand for the idea of freedom, and some, having to pay the ultimate sacrifice. To those, we take this day to set aside our personal lives to recognize their stories of courage and strength. As we gather to celebrate the first "unofficial" beginning of summer, please remember that the Escambia County Burn ban is still in affect. Bonfires, trash, tree limbs, leaf piles are not allowed. The recent rain was definitely a help for us, but persistent dry conditions still exist. If in doubt, put it out. Enjoy your times together safely!

Engines 6, 4, 7, and Squad 3 all assisted in the extrication to help save the occupants life. Thank you Chip for your support and recognizing the team effort that it takes to serve our citizens. Another reason to support Chip Simmons as Sherrif of Escambia County!

Its finally raining here in Escambia County! 🌧☔🌧 Even though the current showers are coming through, please be aware of the overwhelmingly dry conditions still in affect. The burn ban is still in place, and will be announced when the conditions allow for safe open fires.

Happy International Firefighters Day to all of our brothers and sisters around the world! May 4th is recognized as International Firefighters Day, but has its roots in the Patron Saint of Firefighting, St. Florian. There are several reasons why it’s believed Saint Florian earned the title of patron saint of fire and firefighters: legend says that during his life, St. Florian put out a massive fire with only one bucket of water, saving a village from ruin. St. Florian is often depicted in artwork pouring water from a bucket or small vessel. Many years after St. Florian’s death, a man said he was saved from a deadly fire when he called on St. Florian, begging for his intercession. The feast of St. Florian is celebrated May 4, coinciding with International Firefighter’s Day. Thanks to all of our community for the support over the past year!

Detached 2 car garage fire in District 4, Cantonment last night. Total loss, but no damage to the nearby house. Engines 4, 6, 18, 1, and Squad 3 responded with BC3 in Command with CF7 assisting.

Yesterday, members of Local 4131 added "Firefighters Support" signs to our candidates for both Sheriff and District 1 Commissioner. This is an effort to let the public know of our endorsement of these two individuals that have Public Safety and Employee Support as a top priority. We support them, and we ask you do too! Warrington Fire heavy flames through the roof on Engine 16 arrival. Multiple companies used to get through tongue and groove ceilings to access the fire.

Pensacola Beach wind driven fire with Ladder 13 setting up upwind to mitigate with high flow water. No other structures damaged. Thanks to our mutual aid partners for assistance.

In January 2000, Escambia County officially hired their first group of career firefighters. Through ups and downs, good times and bad, 18 of the originals still serve the citizens they swore to protect. Congratulations to them, leading the way for the over 150 current firefighters now employed by Escambia County!

A fire in Ferry Pass this morning displaced a family of 5, including 2 with special needs. The rapid response of firefighters and interior search and attack saved numerous family pets- 1 cat, 1 dog, and numerous kittens. Even when times are bad with the current global crisis, your Union firefighters are giving back. A check of $500 was given today to the family to help them in their difficult time. This donation was funded by the IAFF Local 4131 Charity. Monies can be donated to the 501(c)3, tax deductible organization to further the help to those in Escambia County that are burned out of a home. Pictured are the homeowners and President Gradia. On a side note, President Gradia was on the first in engine from Station 7 and led his crew in the initial attack. Thanks to all those who have donated to keep helping those in their communities!

Today is National Doctors Day! On February 21, 1991, President George H.W. Bush proclaimed National Doctors Day to honor the Nation’s physicians for their dedication and leadership. Today, hundreds of thousands of doctors lead the fight against disease and illness in the United States, most notably- the recent COVID-19 pandemic. We want to take a moment to recognize our own Dr. Rayme Edler, our Medical Director! Since taking office, she has supported the growth and training of our EMTs and Paramedics serving in ECFR. We are proud to have her. She knows what it is like, having worked the streets as a paramedic herself. Thanks Doc!

Keep the Faith. We are still responding to your emergencies, we are still on the front line with our EMS brothers and sisters, and we are still training for all of the possibilities we may be presented with. We encourage all to still practice precautionary procedures, such as washing hands and social distancing, and encourage those who may feel ill to inform the 911 Operators of possible COVID-19 exposures. This will keep us in the trenches, serving you our community.

We are still here, we are still fighting for your safety.

You may see some changes in our protective equipment, but we are still responding. We ask for you to be honest with us and EMS, as 6 Firefighters in South Florida are now being quarantined from their families from a patient not being accurate or honest with their symptoms.

Vote for someone with experience. Vote for someone who understands Public Safety. Vote for someone who sees a need and fixes it. We support Chip Simmons, and you should too!!!

We support him, and you should too!!! We deserve better service from the Firefighters of ECFR. This means electing someone who is connected to the needs and ideas of Fire-Rescue and all of Public Safety.

Our prayers are with the Grogan and Pensacola Police Department family as they remember the life of a great officer.

Unfortunately today was the first day of a reduction in staffing due to poor planning of the budget . This caused an unfortunate homeowner in Innerarity Point to experience a greater loss than was necessary. We are required by law to remain out of the dwelling fire when the resident or residents are confirmed out of the dwelling until we have 4 certified personnel on scene. Please contact your commissioner to find out if your home and possessions are at risk.

Our prayers are with our FHP family in the tragic loss of Trooper Bullock in south Florida. Godspeed Trooper, rest in peace.

The generosity to help those in need. This Escambia County resident receives a check from Local 4131 Charity after their residential fire on Maxwell Street this past week. The charity is funded by donations from both firefighters and local organizations. This allows the funds raised to stay within Escambia County. This is a 501(c)3 charity, and donations are always appreciated. Pictured are Local 4131 members Lt. McGuffey from Myrtle Grove Engine 11 and Lt. Chapman from West Pensacola Engine 17.

ECFR units assisted this morning with treatment and care with EMS. Our thoughts are with the ECSO deputies and those affected by this tragedy.

Members of the ECFR Honor Guard assisted Crestview Fire Department with a retired members funeral recently. We will always try to serve the brotherhood, especially in their time of loss.

Local 4131 hosted a Fish Fry for the Florida Professional Firefighters Executive Meeting last night. Over 100 FPF Members from all around the state of Florida are on Pensacola Beach this week developing and discussing employee safety and health items and employer relationships. Thanks to the FPF for picking beautiful Pensacola Beach for this occasion!

Today we lay a hero down to rest. Chief Bradshaw made a lasting impression on so many in Escambia County, Department of Defense, and 2 branches of the military. To say he lived his life to serve would be an understatement. We pay tribute today for a lifetime of sacrifice. Rest easy Chief, we will take it from here.
